Oh my goodness you guys, I say this like every time I blog, but it’s been FOREVER! I love sharing photos and staying connected with anyone who is following my work, but I always end up slacking on the blogging! However, I have SO many amazing shoots from this summer, fall and winter to catch you up on! Starting with this amazing day with Dash and Megan! These two are close family friends and some of the sweetest people I know so I was ecstatic to be there to photograph their gorgeous wedding! We worked out a unique deal, I would come and photograph the ceremony and a snippet of the reception but spend a majority of the evening as a guest! This was fun and super different for me but it was great being able to get in a little work and a little fun!! And how adorable are they with their little pup!?!
When I meet with couples to talk about their wedding, their plans and their engagement session I always make sure everyone knows that I am super happy to go on epic adventures together. ESPECIALLY if the location is someplace gorgeous, sentimental or both! Not all couples take me up on the offer and opt for something closer to home, but I was so excited when Ally and Cameron suggested we meet in Florence and run around together for the afternoon. We had a loose plan and two locations picked out and just explored, chatted and had fun along the way. Not only is this a blast, but I get to know them so much better, get to hear their love story and get to share some of my stories!
These two were so much fun to get to know! You’d be amazed to know that despite not knowing each other for very long before Ally had to move across the world for work, they were able to find a way to make a new budding relationship thrive while dealing with the long distance. They had shared meals, via facetime, they sent photos and texts about their experiences and stayed in very close contact through every step of their days/weeks/months. This, I’m sure was no easy task, it takes love, desire and sooooo much commitment to keep up with a long distance relationship! I’m so happy for them, so encouraged and so excited to see them get married in February!
If you know me, you know I’m completely obsessed with dogs and any shoot that involves dogs! So when my favorite winery, Sweet Cheeks hosts an event and fundraiser for Greenhill Humane Society you just know I HAD to be involved! This afternoon was surprisingly exhausting getting the attention of all these dogs to get a nice portrait, but it was incredibly rewarding and oh so much fun! Plus getting to see Charlie, Sweet Cheeks winery dog on a bottle of wine was pretty epic too! For those of you who don’t know, Charlie is a half sibling of my dog Happy, so it’s basically like Happy was on that wine label! 😉 You just know I had to get myself a bottle!
Finding the words to describe this shoot has been quite a challenge. Capturing something so special, so touching and so monumental in someone’s life is a honor I don’t take lightly. Being there to witness and document a proposal, a wedding or revealing exciting news is something only some of us are lucky enough to experience.
Being there to photograph Jon & Maddy’s special moment was something I was incredibly excited for and super nervous to document all at the same time! We had sun, we had rain, we had passerby’s and we had the risk of getting caught all at the same time! Jon carefully planned out the morning, picked a nice slow time at one of their favorite places; Sweet Cheeks Winery and had everything in place. Maddy and Jon’s family members secretly gathered at the winery each with a sunflower in hand to bring to our unsuspecting bride/fiance-to-be and at the end she would be holding a bouquet of her favorite flowers as Jon approaches and ring in hand, asks her to marry him! Of course she said yes, shed a few happy tears and celebrated happily with family from all across the country! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect proposal to photograph or a more adorable couple! I am beyond happy for these two and wish them all the luck in the world as they plan a wedding and start their lives as husband and wife!!
You guys, I’m so in love with these photos of my friend and co-owner of Engaging Eugene Becky Hart! When she recommended doing photos at her favorite coffee shop, The Washburne Cafe, I was immediately nervous knowing indoor lighting to be tricky and unpredictable. But walking in on a gloriously gorgeous morning I was pleasantly surprised at how many opportunities I had for great lighting and how adorable this place was! I’m a huge fan of this place, if only they would move it just down the street from me instead of all the way in Springfield!!
If you don’t already know her, Becky Hart is the owner of Event Crush! She is an amazing wedding/event/party planner and just the sweetest human alive! She was also the day of coordinator for my wedding and the whole reason I survived the day in one piece! I will do a more in depth blog post about the vendors at my wedding soon, but I just had to say she was amazing and an absolute delight!
