From the moment I stepped out of my car and I was hit by the humid air and the smell of flowers, I knew this shoot would be a good one! Something about heat and flowers just makes me happy! Love it.

This gorgeous engagement shoot with Kellie and Dylan was beyond amazing, we had a great time exploring the Portland Rose Garden and tromping around finding new locations and trails! It was relaxed, fun and perfect! I could tell that this couple loved each other, understood each other and had fun together! I absolutely adore couples in love!!

As wedding season approaches, and my first wedding of the year is just DAYS away! I am reflecting on my past weddings and my choice to become a wedding photographer. I realize that I’ve never shared some of the things I love the most about photographing weddings. Here are some of my top reasons why I LOVE being a wedding photographer.

• LOVE, I know every photographer says this, but being involved in a day that is all about love and celebrating the union of a couple is just such a touching and wonderful thing. 
• The grandeur of the day, large events, always something to photograph and it keeps me on my toes every moment of the day
• The wedding environment, all the guests show up looking fantastic and are ready to eat, drink and be merry. It is rare that someone will shy away from my camera at a wedding, they know they look good and they want to just celebrate the day and have their photograph taken. It’s a whole different environment for a photographer!
• Um… CANDY BARS! An entire buffet set up with candy. How can you say no to an event that will send you home with bags of candy!?
• Tradition, it’s wonderful to see the various traditions and to hear how they have continued down through generations and the way that each couple can put their own spin on an age old tradition.
• I absolutely adore a good wedding dress, lord knows they can be bad, but I’ve been lucky in the past to photograph brides you have STUNNING dresses, unique shoes and if I’m real lucky a gorgeous veil!
• As you can tell from my photos above, i LOVE a dramatic kiss. Is there anything better than a big, dramatic dip?!?
• I could seriously list things forever, but above all I love being a part of a life changing, spectacular day in a couple’s life and I work tirelessly to give them photographs that accurately and beautifully capture their day.

As many of you know, I have a studio and meeting space in the 5th Street Public Market, it’s a truly fantastic little space that has made it not only easy, but wonderful to shoot all winter and cope with the rainy Eugene days. I realize that I haven’t shared too many photos of the space, so I thought I’d give you a little peek! Below is my fantastic little meeting space, it allows me to have a quite and comfortable place to meet with couples to talk about weddings or share my products and services with anyone interested in a shoot! You can flip through my albums, feel the quality of the canvas and see the depth in the prints, it makes all the difference in the world to actually see what you are considering purchasing!

In addition to being a fantastic meeting space, I also have a perfect little set up for glamour shoots and corporate headshots! No fussing with locations or worrying about weather, you simply show up, possibly get all glammed up by my amazing make up artist and take some gorgeous photos! Once we get some killer photos in the studio, we can simply walk out to the 5th Street Market and get some on-location shots utilizing the wonderful surroundings! We can find just about everything you could want!

I am excited to share with you a collection of photographs from my recent shoot in Seattle, Washington with Mark and Emily. This was especially fun because this was my first trip back to Seattle after living there for nearly two years. It was a perfect way to visit, I got to shoot this lovely couple, hung out with some friends and ate some Serious Pie, OH and you know, hung out with Joe Grimes!! No complaints here!!

I felt so lucky and excited to get to chat with him along with some other amazing photographers. I think the most important thing I took from him was the importance of personal projects, styled shoots and using models for promotional or personal work! Beyond that, he was full of incredible advice and some amazing experiences! I was super impressed and I hope our paths cross again!

Ok, back to the shoot, this was such a blast! We met up at the Olympic Sculpture Park right near the waterfront and ran around for a while just taking pictures, playing amongst the sculptures! It was so much fun, I’ve spent so much time in that park and I had never gotten a chance to do a shoot there, I finally get to check that off my list. It was perfect!

This shoot with Mark and Emily  so much fun, time flew by and I absolutely loved every moment! I knew Mark back in the day, but I had not gotten to meet Emily, it was such a treat to meet her and to see them as a couple! While driving up to Seattle, I wondered who this girl was who my friend had fallen for, I knew she would have to be fun, relaxed and have a great sense of humor to be a great fit. Turns out she was all those things and more! Right from the start, I could tell they loved each other, fit together well and had fun together. They were constantly making each other laugh, I love seeing that in a couple, they just have a knack for relaxing one another. I absolutely love getting to witness couples in love and to be a part of their build up to the wedding. It’s such a wonderful time in each person’s life and I get to be there to document it! I was so very touched to be a part and a witness to this couple’s awesomeness! 

Working together with the Inn at The 5th and the Fifth Street Public Market I recently put together a styled shoot with a couple you may recognize from my blog, Cheyenne and Bruce. Last summer I was lucky enough to be the photographer for Cheyenne and Bruce’s wedding! They were so graciously willing to get back into the dress and suit for some more photos! I had an absolute blast with the two of them, we found some stunning and really fun locations all around the Inn At The 5th and the Fifth Street Market, it was a perfect location for photography, everywhere you look are beautiful surroundings!!

We had some extra help with the styled shoot from other shops around the Fifth Street Market, the gorgeous bouquet was provided by Rhythm & Blooms, cupcakes by Marche Provisions and the stunning jewelry by H Boutique! (links below)

The bride is almost always the center of attention in any wedding, as is traditional and expected. Now that I am back from my Vegas trip (blog post coming soon) I can finally share with you a little about my recent Bridal Show with Luxe Bridal Events held at the Hult Center in Eugene, Oregon. I seriously cannot say enough positive things about the event itself, the staff was kind and helpful, the area was beautiful and organized and the feel of the entire show was classy and sophisticated. I had never done a bridal show and I had only visited one before. This was a huge leap for me without knowing how bridal shows typically go and being nervous about setting up a visually appealing booth. Now that things have settled down, I can say that I am so very pleased with how the whole day went! I met some incredible people, ok not just some, TONS of incredible people and heard about some amazing weddings!

I cannot wait to see what sort of fantastic couples come my way after this amazing event, if those who have booked with me already are any indication, I am in for some beautiful and killer weddings!
