The ever beautiful Laura
Portraiture and Portrait lighting have always been a bit of a mystery to me, it wasn’t until this last year that I started to really take portrait session seriously.
I have been lucky to work with some beautiful models and some excellent situations. I always knew I wanted to take my portraits above and beyond what you would get out of a typical professional portrait studio, Picture me Portraits or worse yet, some department store photo studio. Being innovative, unique and fun has always been the goal! With Laura I was fortunate enough to have access to a night club/bar during the day time. It was bizzarre being there during the day, but it was fun getting a new and different location that most people don’t get to explore during the day time.
For the indoor shots I played around with a Canon 580EX II flash with a Gary Fong Light Sphere diffuser on top. This made for some decent light, but it wasn’t until I took the flash off the camera and held it in one hand out to the left side that I started to get a better light and more unique portrait. After some indoor portrait fun we took it outside just in time to catch that ‘golden hour’ of light! I think these are some of my favorite portraits to date!
