Journey to Spain.
Ingarö is an island in Varmdo Municipality, Stockholm County. The chief settlement is called Brunn. With an area of 63 km, it is the 16th biggest island in Sweden. Petroglyphs indicate that the island has been inhabited since the Nordic Broze Age. For the most of the 20th century the resident population decreased, while at the same time many vacation homes were built. However in recent years population has grown as new homes are being built and vacation homes are being converted into permanent homes.
The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon occurring in summer months at latitudes north and nearby to the south of the Arctic Circle, and south and nearby to the north of the Antarctic Circle where the sun remains visible at the local midnight. Given fair weather, the sun is visible for a continuous 24 hours, mostly north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle. The number of days per year with potential midnight sun increases the farther poleward one goes.
Our home away from home outside Stockholm Sweden.
Walking around Stockholm.
High school by day, outdoor bar by night.
If you ask someone who has visited Stockholm the first word they would probably use to describe it is “beautiful”, and that it is. Stockholm is a major international city with great shopping, quality eateries in abundance, fabulous standard hotels, an internationally renowned club and music scene and a vibrant cultural life. Where Stockholm comes into its own, however, is its sheer natural beauty.
Stockholm, as a city, is over 700 years old and spreads across 14 islands as it faces proudly out to the Baltic Sea. You can get to just about all of Stockholm’s many wondrous sites on foot, which is the perfect way to see the city. You can also take a boat trip that will give you a different facet of Scandinavia’s largest and probably most beautiful city.
The ever beautiful Laura
Portraiture and Portrait lighting have always been a bit of a mystery to me, it wasn’t until this last year that I started to really take portrait session seriously.
I have been lucky to work with some beautiful models and some excellent situations. I always knew I wanted to take my portraits above and beyond what you would get out of a typical professional portrait studio, Picture me Portraits or worse yet, some department store photo studio. Being innovative, unique and fun has always been the goal! With Laura I was fortunate enough to have access to a night club/bar during the day time. It was bizzarre being there during the day, but it was fun getting a new and different location that most people don’t get to explore during the day time.
For the indoor shots I played around with a Canon 580EX II flash with a Gary Fong Light Sphere diffuser on top. This made for some decent light, but it wasn’t until I took the flash off the camera and held it in one hand out to the left side that I started to get a better light and more unique portrait. After some indoor portrait fun we took it outside just in time to catch that ‘golden hour’ of light! I think these are some of my favorite portraits to date!
